Preseason buzz as national rankings roll out
The University of Iowa women’s soccer program enters the 2025 campaign with a surge of optimism. Recent preseason rankings from Top Drawer Soccer have positioned two of its standout players among the nation’s top hundred, setting the stage for a highly anticipated season.
Sofia Bush, a senior from Marion, Iowa, earned the 57th spot on the Preseason Women’s National Top 100 list. She started every game in the previous season, logging nearly 1,800 minutes and contributing six assists, including a decisive two‑assist performance against Arkansas.
Defensive anchor and offensive spark
Millie Greer, a senior defender from Scottsdale, Arizona, landed at No. 72 in the same list. She served as the defensive anchor, helping the team record ten shutouts while playing every minute of all 21 matches. Greer also found the back of the net three times, most memorably as the game‑winner against Nebraska on September 28.
The Hawkeyes open their schedule on Wednesday with a home match against Milwaukee at the Iowa Soccer Complex, offering free admission to fans. The contest will showcase the chemistry between Bush’s playmaking and Greer’s defensive solidity, giving the crowd a first look at the talent that has earned national attention.
