Murray State University has named Ed Chapman as a special assistant coach for the women’s basketball program, effective for the 2026‑27 season. Chapman, who brings more than three decades of experience in scouting, analytics and player development, will work to sharpen the team’s fast‑paced offensive and defensive schemes.
Having started his collegiate career as a student manager under Scott Edgar in the 1992‑93 season, Chapman later served as an assistant to Ron Greene at Calloway County High School before returning to Murray State’s men’s program. His journey has come full circle, as he now rejoins the university where he earned both his B.S. in 1996 and his M.Ed. in 2006.
Chapman’s family is deeply rooted in the Murray State community; his wife Chrystie, sons Carson and Jackson, and daughter‑in‑law Melanie are all alumni. Their shared affiliation underscores a generational connection that the university hopes will reinforce its championship culture.
