Sean Thomas Sledd, a former football coach at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf, was charged on August 7, 2024 with two counts of second-degree rape and two counts of possession of child pornography, according to court records.
Charges and Arrest
An arrest warrant was issued the same day, and the warrant led to his removal from the campus in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where he had overseen the school’s football program for several seasons.
The Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services confirmed that Sledd is no longer employed by the school, citing an immediate response to the investigation.
Previous Recognition
Sledd had been recognized in December 2024 as the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association’s Division 2 Coach of the Year, an honor that highlighted his contributions to deaf‑student athletics.
School officials emphasized that student safety remains the top priority, stating that they acted promptly upon learning of the investigation and will continue to cooperate with law‑enforcement agencies.
