St. Louis Hosts Elite Girls Hockey Invitational
The St. Louis Blues are set to host the second annual Girls Tier 1 Ice Breaker Invitational at the Centene Community Ice Center from August 14 through August 16, bringing together some of the most competitive female youth hockey programs in the country.
Five elite Tier 1 programs – the St. Louis AAA Lady Blues, the Carolina Jr. Canes, the Arizona Kachinas, the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights and the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals – will field teams in both the 12U and 14U age groups, creating a showcase of emerging talent.
The weekend will follow a round‑robin schedule that guarantees each squad at least four games, culminating in a championship match that will determine the tournament champion.
Beyond the on‑ice action, the event features a robust enrichment program that includes nutrition and leadership workshops provided by 1st Phorm, team‑building exercises, a Family Skate and a Women in Sports Panel and Festival presented by Enterprise.
Mentorship from PWHL Trailblazers
Olympic medalists and Professional Women’s Hockey League stars will lead mentorship sessions throughout the weekend. Alex Cavallini, Joy Dunne, Brianna Decker, Megan Ferguson, Abby Roque and Jincy Roese will share their experiences and guide the next generation of players.
The Blues’ Girls Hockey Development Program, launched in 2020, has expanded participation from more than 100 girls to nearly 500 players through initiatives such as Girls Development, Little Blues, North City Blues and Try Hockey for Free, underscoring the organization’s commitment to affordable, high‑quality hockey opportunities.

The tournament also celebrates the rapid rise of girls’ hockey in St. Louis, where low‑cost access, skill development and female‑led mentorship are reshaping the sport’s landscape and inspiring broader community involvement.
