Clemson Secures Commitment from Top Florida Receiver
Clemson’s football program received a major boost this week when Jamarin Simmons, a four‑star wide receiver from Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee, announced his commitment to the Tigers for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
Ranked No. 18 among Florida prospects and No. 106 nationally by the 247Sports Composite, Simmons posted a breakout junior season with 59 receptions for 932 yards and 14 touchdowns, showcasing a blend of size, speed and playmaking ability that attracted top programs across the country.
The decision came after a careful evaluation of his options, with Simmons ultimately selecting Clemson over fierce competition from Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn and his home‑state Florida Gators, a choice that marks the first time a Florida player has pledged to the Tigers in this class.
His pledge adds to a rapidly filling 2027 roster that already includes four‑star running back Gary Walker and other offensive standouts such as quarterback Kharim Hughley and wide receiver Trey Wimbley, pushing the class to ten commitments and a national ranking of No. 20.
Coaches view Simmons as a cornerstone piece for the Tigers’ future offense, noting that his size and route‑running precision could immediately translate into a major target in the passing game. The commitment also underscores Clemson’s growing footprint in Florida, a state that has historically supplied talent to rival programs.
