Behrend Baseball and Softball Capture AMCC Titles, NCAA Bids Secured

Third straight baseball championship and 12th softball crown highlight a busy week for Penn State Behrend athletics

Penn State Behrend’s baseball squad captured its third straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship on Tuesday, routing Alfred State 12‑6. The victory not only secured the program’s third consecutive title but also earned the Lions an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.

A Week of Championships Across Campus Sports

The softball team added to the celebration by clinching its 12th AMCC crown, edging Penn State Altoona 8‑7 in a dramatic finish. That triumph likewise guarantees a spot in the NCAA tournament for the Lady Lions.

Both championship squads saw several individuals recognized on the all‑tournament teams. Baseball honorees included Adam Cooper, David Gibson and Sawyer Prince, while the softball awardees were Alexia Brown, Hannah Smith and Megan Swain.

Track and field athletes also turned in standout performances at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet. Carter Tobin placed second in the 200‑meter dash, Charlie Motter finished fourth in the javelin, Braylee Lukehart took sixth in the same event and Ana Buck crossed seventh in the 100‑meter sprint.

In addition, the Behrend men’s tennis team posted a 4‑3 victory over Marymount, underscoring the campus’s broad‑based athletic success.
