The Idaho Steelheads announced this week that they have secured forward Robbie Holmes through the 2026‑27 campaign, reinforcing their attack with a player who already knows the league's competitive rhythm.
A proven contributor
Holmes burst onto the Idaho scene last season, posting 24 points — 10 goals and 14 assists — across 55 games. His impact was felt most sharply during the first‑round showdown with the Allen Americans, where he logged two assists in three playoff appearances.
Beyond the ECHL, the forward brings a solid pedigree from the Western Hockey League, having suited up for the Regina Pats and Everett Silvertips over 231 contests and racking up 114 points. His collegiate years at Mount Royal University further honed his scoring touch, yielding 78 points in 88 games.
Roots and previous stops
A native of Sarepta, Alberta, Holmes previously tasted professional action with the Kansas City Mavericks during the 2020‑21 season, appearing in a single game before returning to the ECHL. His journey from the prairies to the Idaho ice reflects a steady climb through North American minor‑league hockey.
The upcoming season will mark Holmes' second professional chapter after his ECHL debut, and the Steelheads are optimistic that his blend of experience and work ethic will help push the team deeper into the playoffs.
