K-State’s 2026 Wide Receiver Room Poised for Growth

Key additions and competition shape the offense ahead of the new season

A deepening receiving corps

Quarterback Avery Johnson is entering his third season as the starter for Kansas State, and the coaching staff believes this could be his most productive year yet. With a revamped receiving corps, Johnson will have a variety of options at his disposal.

Among those options is senior wide receiver Jaron Tibbs, a 6‑foot‑3 target who transferred from Purdue and earned a full‑time starter role during the final nine games of last season. Though not known for elite explosiveness, Tibbs proved reliable, catching 47 of 80 passes for 595 yards and three touchdowns, and he consistently lined up as the team’s second option behind Jayce Brown, who has since moved on to LSU.

Joining Tibbs is Josh Manning, a 6‑foot‑3 receiver who spent three years at Missouri before transferring to Manhattan. Manning brings a blend of speed and route precision, especially on shorter patterns, having recorded 136 yards after the catch last season and contributing 318 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers.

The depth chart also features transfer Brandon White, who arrived from Hawaii with a track record of 399 receiving yards and two scores, and redshirt freshman Izaiah Williams, who saw limited action at Texas A&M but is expected to compete for slot snaps. Adding to the mix is junior‑college standout Derrick Salley Jr., a 6‑foot‑3, 234‑pound prospect ranked No. 1 nationally who could provide a dynamic spark if he adapts to the program.

What’s at stake

The upcoming season will test whether the chemistry built in the offseason translates into on‑field production. If Johnson can stay healthy and the receiving corps clicks, Kansas State could see a noticeable jump in offensive efficiency, potentially reshaping its outlook in the Big 12.
