Academic Excellence Recognized on the Field
West Virginia University’s men’s and women’s soccer programs have once again been celebrated for their scholarly achievements, receiving the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2025‑26 academic year.
The women’s squad posted a collective grade point average of 3.63, marking the 25th straight year the team has earned this distinction, while the men’s team recorded a 3.53 GPA, extending its own streak to 19 consecutive awards.
A Legacy of Scholarship
Both teams are members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program, an initiative that emphasizes the balance between athletic competition and academic rigor.
To qualify for the honor, a program must maintain a composite GPA of at least 3.0 across all roster members, a benchmark that the Mountaineers have consistently met.
The recognition underscores the university’s commitment to developing student‑athletes who excel in the classroom as well as on the pitch, reinforcing the institution’s broader mission of holistic education.
