A Pilgrimage Site Returns to the Spotlight
After a storied absence, NASCAR has confirmed that the 2027 All‑Star Race will be held at North Wilkesboro Speedway, the North Carolina track that last hosted a points‑paying Cup Series event in 2026. The decision marks a symbolic homecoming for a venue that has long been regarded as a pilgrimage site for the sport’s fans.
Marcus Smith, president and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, described the location as a cornerstone of NASCAR’s heritage, noting that the track’s rich history and passionate fan base make it the ideal setting for the sport’s most celebrated exhibition.
The weekend will feature a triple‑header format that has not been seen at the venue since 1985. On Friday, May 21, the Craftsman Truck Series will take to the half‑mile oval, followed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday, May 22. The festivities culminate on Sunday, May 23, with the All‑Star Race itself, which will incorporate a novel format and technical adjustments designed to push the boundaries of traditional racing.
In addition to the historic return, NASCAR will also bring points‑paying competition back to Dover Motor Speedway in 2027, providing fans in Delaware with a new focal point for the season’s schedule.
Ticket packages for the three‑day event are now available through the official North Wilkesboro Speedway website or by phone, giving supporters the opportunity to secure their spot at what promises to be a landmark weekend for the sport.
