The Mid-American Conference has unveiled the 2026-27 basketball schedules for the University of Akron's men's and women's teams, setting the stage for a competitive season that begins in early December and runs through early March.
The Zips' men open the campaign at home on December 2, welcoming Ball State to James A. Rhodes Arena, while the women's squad will host UMass on January 2 in their first conference matchup.
Both programs will alternate between home and road contests, with the men's team slated to host Bowling Green on December 19 and Western Michigan on January 2, and the women's team preparing to welcome Ohio on January 16 and Central Michigan on January 20.
Rocket Arena to Host Tournament
The regular season will culminate with the top eight teams advancing to the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, where the men's tournament runs from March 10 to 13 and the women's event follows on March 10-13.
A full television schedule is expected to be released in October, giving fans a clearer picture of broadcast windows, while the Akron Athletics Ticket Office stands ready to assist season-ticket holders via phone, email or in-person visits at InfoCision Stadium Summa Health Field.
Fans can look forward to a packed schedule of rivalry games, including matchups against longtime foes such as Kent State and Toledo, and the excitement of playing in front of home crowds at the iconic James A. Rhodes Arena.
