The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team entered the 2026 season as the preseason favorite in the PSAC West, having captured five first‑place votes in the coaches' poll that secured their fifth straight conference title. A narrow victory over Gannon University, which earned four first‑place votes, underscored the competitiveness of the Western Division, while traditional powerhouses such as Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Edinboro, Seton Hill, Lock Haven, Clarion, Pitt‑Johnstown and California (Pa.) rounded out the poll behind the Rock.
The 2025 campaign ended with a 12‑4‑1 overall record and a 12‑1‑1 mark within the PSAC West, highlighted by a nine‑game unbeaten streak that began after an early pair of defeats and stands as the fifth longest in program history. That stretch propelled the Rock into the PSAC Tournament Quarterfinals, where they fell to Millersville, but the performance reinforced the team's status as a perennial contender.
Building the Roster
Coach Noreen Herlihy, now the 23rd‑most winningest coach in Division II with 317 career victories, continues to shape a roster that blends 21 underclassmen — including a freshman class of 13 athletes — with seasoned seniors and juniors. Goalkeepers Leah Allman and Allie Burkholder return, with Allman having earned All‑PSAC West Second Team honors last year, while midfielders and forwards such as Sophia Palermo, Bailey McGee, Lindsey Price and Allie Burns look to build on their 2025 contributions. Adding to the depth, Rosie Willmott Joyce transferred from Eastern New Mexico University to join the squad as one of four available keepers.
The upcoming schedule features 18 matches, two non‑conference fixtures and a rigorous 16‑game round‑robin within the PSAC West, setting the stage for another push toward the conference tournament. A top‑five finish would guarantee the Rock’s 16th consecutive appearance in the PSAC Tournament, a streak that has been bolstered by a strong home record of 43‑9‑13 at Egli Field over the past seven seasons.
