A Coach’s Fall from Grace
Eihab Sayed Daoud, a 46‑year‑old former youth soccer coach, was indicted in June 2025 on a slate of serious felonies that include luring a minor, second‑degree online sexual corruption of a child, rape and sodomy. Prosecutors allege that the abuse began on April 12, 2025, when a 15‑year‑old reported the assault to authorities.
According to court filings, the victim disclosed the incident immediately after the alleged assault. A detective later assumed the victim’s identity in text exchanges, prompting Daoud to respond to messages that appeared to come from the teenager. Those communications provided the evidence that led to Daoud’s arrest on July 2, 2025.
Daoud’s coaching career stretched over nearly a decade, during which he worked for several local soccer academies, including the Oregon Youth Soccer Association, Portland Timbers Academy and F.C. Portland Soccer Academy. Records show he held a part‑time position with Portland Timbers Academy from 2012 to 2021, but he had no formal affiliation with the club after 2021, four years before the alleged abuse occurred.
Both the Oregon Youth Soccer Association and Portland Timbers Academy issued statements confirming that Daoud was not employed by them at the time of the alleged crimes and that his involvement ended years earlier. A separate statement from F.C. Portland Soccer Academy noted that he was dismissed in 2019 for reasons unrelated to the current charges.
The upcoming trial is scheduled to begin on September 21, 2025. If convicted, Daoud faces a lengthy prison sentence and mandatory registration as a sex offender. The case has sparked renewed scrutiny of background‑check protocols within youth sports organizations.
