James Madison University safety KJ Flowe has been named to the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, a honor that spotlights FBS players who combine athletic talent with extraordinary community service, academic achievement and leadership.
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Flowe has turned his platform into a source of inspiration for youth in Harrisonburg and Waynesboro, Virginia, where he volunteers at William Perry Elementary School, mentoring fourth‑ and fifth‑graders during his free time.
His commitment extends beyond the classroom, as he has forged a close relationship with John Paul Macri, a young man battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, and regularly visits the family to offer support.
Flowe’s dedication to service is not an isolated story; he joins a distinguished group of Duke alumni who have previously earned the Wuerffel Trophy, including Camden Wise, Jacob Dobbs and Blake Kendall, underscoring a legacy of leadership within the program.
The watch list, which includes 113 nominees from conferences such as the Big Ten, ACC, SEC and Big 12, highlights the breadth of talent across the nation, with the Big Ten leading at 18 nominees, followed by the ACC and SEC with 16 each.
Semifinalists will be announced in September, and the 2026 recipient will be revealed on December 11 during The Home Depot College Football Awards show, where the winner will serve as captain of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and travel to New York City for foundation events.
Beyond the individual accolade, the Wuerffel Trophy, named for former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel, celebrates the unifying power of college football, encouraging players to use their influence for positive community impact.
