Creighton Women’s Soccer Opens Season with 3-1 Defeat to Colorado College

Early goals and a late rally highlight a challenging debut for the Bluejays

A Rocky Start for Creighton’s Women’s Soccer Squad

Creighton’s women’s soccer team opened the 2024 campaign with a 3‑1 loss on the road, slipping to 0‑1‑0 as they faced a determined Colorado College side.

The Tigers struck first in the eighth minute when Ella Ashouri met a cross from Nadia Cassamajor and tapped the ball past the keeper for her inaugural collegiate goal.

Colorado College extended their lead in the second half, with Kate Pulley finding the net in the 55th minute before Ashouri added a second goal in the 62nd, sealing a comfortable margin.

Creighton finally got on the board in the 80th minute, as Olivia Duray finished a swift move set up by Sarah Hyde, but the deficit proved too large to overturn.

Goalkeeper Kailey Hall logged an assist, marking the first time a Bluejay keeper had recorded one since Alyssa Zalac’s stint at Seton Hall earlier in the year.

The Bluejays will look to rebound when they travel to face the Air Force Academy on August 16, hoping to turn the early loss into momentum for the season.
