A Recruiting Landscape in Flux
Declan Griffiths, a 6‑foot‑6 shooting wing from Simsbury, Connecticut, has emerged as one of the most coveted prospects in the Class of 2027, drawing multiple Division I offers that include Boston College and Providence.
Although the University of Connecticut has yet to extend a formal invitation, the youngster’s older brother Gavin Griffiths previously navigated the collegiate route at Rutgers and Temple, a background that adds context to Declan’s own ambitions.
Visits and Priorities
Griffiths has scheduled a series of campus tours that will take him to High Point, Butler and Ole Miss, while also keeping potential trips to Providence and Boston College on the horizon. He has emphasized that a system which maximizes his skill set as a wing is paramount, rather than simply chasing a school’s recent brand of success.
The prospect also highlighted the influence of former UConn assistant Luke Murray, now heading the Boston College program, and the looming competition from five‑star recruit Malachi Jordan, who is also courting the same elite circles.
Having transferred from Avon Old Farms to St. Thomas More Prep for his senior season, Griffiths is balancing academic considerations with athletic goals, aiming to choose an environment where he can both develop and contribute immediately.
