Evansville Women’s Soccer Opens Season with 1-1 Draw Against Purdue

Senior forward Brooklyn Robinson equalizes as goalkeeper Bri Chirpich records nine saves in debut

Season Opener Ends in a Draw

The University of Evansville women's soccer squad kicked off its 2026 campaign on a modest note, settling for a 1-1 stalemate with Big Ten powerhouse Purdue in West Lafayette.

Brooklyn Robinson, a senior forward from West Haven, Utah, broke the deadlock in the 47th minute, slotting a left‑footed finish after a tidy touch from teammate Josie Seehafer.

Goalkeeper Bri Chirpich, a transfer from Gladstone, Missouri, announced her arrival with a career‑high nine saves, including four in the opening half that kept Purdue at bay.

Purdue had taken the lead early, striking in the 13th minute, but could not find a second goal despite sustained pressure after the break, as Chirpich added five more stops.

The draw marks the second meeting between the two programs in the past two seasons and the first ever in West Lafayette, while Evansville prepares for its home opener against SEMO at Arad McCutchan Stadium next Thursday.
