According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, a 63‑year‑old man identified as Aaron Bordeaux was taken into custody on August 12 after investigators determined he had assaulted another individual with a metal baseball bat on August 8.
The confrontation, which reportedly involved striking the victim in both the back and forearm, has been characterized by authorities as a deliberate act of violence.
Legal Proceedings
Bordeaux was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and, in addition, was designated a habitual felon, a status that can carry enhanced penalties under state law.
The assault charge was secured with a $2,500 bond, allowing the suspect to walk out of the Columbus County jail later that night, while the habitual felon count remained unsecured and will move forward through the local court system.
