The Fraser Valley Super League’s Women’s Elite Division turned its off‑season into a showcase, running a nine‑week summer series from early June through late July at the North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex in Surrey, British Columbia. The league opened its doors to free evening games that began after 8:30 p.m., drawing crowds eager to watch top female talent during the traditional hockey lull.
A Talent‑Rich Field
Sixty‑five players from the Premier Women’s Hockey League, NCAA, USports and the Canadian Sport School Hockey League took part, representing a blend of university programs, professional contracts and rising high‑school stars. The cohort spanned ages from fifteen to thirty, with an average of just over twenty‑one, and more than half were under twenty‑five.
Representation was led by USports with twenty‑seven participants, followed closely by the NCAA and the CSSHL, each contributing eleven. The Professional Women’s Hockey League contributed seven contracted players, including four who were slated for the 2025‑26 season, while eleven others were either under contract or drafted for 2026. Notable names such as Jenn Gardiner, Katie Chan, Malia Schneider, Kim Newell, Jenna Buglioni, Kathryn Reilly, Sandra Abstreiter, Leah Lum, Sara Swiderski, Tova Henderson, Grace Elliott and Hailey McLeod took to the ice, illustrating the depth of talent on display.

Beyond the scores, the event served as a networking hub for players, coaches and scouts, reinforcing the community’s growing appetite for women’s sport.
