Rainbow Warriors Unveil Inaugural Mountain West Basketball Schedule

First season in new conference brings road openers, home slate and a Las Vegas championship

Inaugural Mountain West Schedule Unveiled

The University of Hawaii’s men’s basketball program has released its tentative schedule for the 2026‑27 Mountain West Conference season, the first full slate of league play since the school announced its move from the Big West after fourteen years.

Road Opener and Early Matchups

The Rainbow Warriors will open conference play on the road, with their first three matchups slated for January 2 at San Jose State, January 5 at UC Davis and January 9 at Nevada, setting a challenging start against familiar West Coast rivals.

These early games pit the team against UC Davis, Nevada and San Jose State, all of whom previously competed in the Western Athletic Conference, adding a layer of historic rivalry to the new conference context.

Home Games and Championship Tournament

Home games will begin on January 12 when Air Force visits the SimpliFi Arena, followed by contests against Wyoming on January 16, New Mexico on January 26, UC Davis on January 30, UTEP on February 6, San Jose State on February 16, Nevada on February 20, Grand Canyon on March 2 and UNLV on March 6, giving fans a nine‑game slate on the islands.

The schedule also includes a marquee appearance at the 2027 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Basketball Championships in Las Vegas, where the team will compete from March 10‑13 at the Thomas & Mack Center, marking the first time the Rainbow Warriors will face Grand Canyon as conference opponents.

While the slate is set, the university notes that broadcast partners CBS Sports Network, Fox Sports and the CW may influence adjustments, and the conference has warned that the schedule remains subject to change based on television selections.
