Vince Johnson, a former analytics manager for the University of Georgia Bulldogs, has accepted a new role as Director of Baseball Systems, a position that will centralize analytics, player development and advanced scouting for the program.
Building on past success
Johnson, a native of McDonough, Georgia, brings a blend of academic training and hands‑on coaching experience, having spent four years at Shorter University designing pitching‑focused training programs and integrating performance analytics into player evaluation.
During the 2026 season he helped the Bulldogs capture a school‑record 53 wins, secure the Southeastern Conference regular‑season and tournament titles, and climb to a No. 3 national ranking, culminating in a College World Series appearance.
His earlier work at Maven Baseball Lab in Atlanta and volunteer stint with the Georgia Sunshine League further honed his ability to translate data into actionable insights, a skill set he will now apply full‑time to the Bulldogs’ roster.
The fall semester at the University of Georgia begins on August 17, 2024, and the 2027 college baseball campaign is slated to open on February 19, marking the start of a season that promises to leverage Johnson’s analytical expertise from the outset.
