Preseason Outlook for CSUN Men's Soccer
CSUN's men's soccer program received a boost as senior goalkeeper Dorian Drucks was selected among 11 players for the Big West Preseason Coaches' Team, a recognition that highlights his standout performance during the previous season.
Drucks anchored a defense that posted a program‑record 13 goals allowed and logged eight shutouts, finishing the 2025 campaign with a 0.76 goals‑against average and 74 saves across 1,500 minutes of play. His most memorable moment came on August 30, 2025, when he recorded a season‑high nine saves in a shutout victory over Biola University.
The 2026 preseason poll placed the Matadors fifth, awarding them 17 points, while defending champion UC Santa Barbara topped the chart with 34 points. UC Irvine followed in second with 32 points, and newcomer Utah Valley was projected third. The poll also listed Cal State Fullerton fourth, Cal State Bakersfield sixth and Sacramento State at the bottom.
Head coach Terry Davila, now in his 28th year at CSUN, expressed confidence that the team's defensive foundation, bolstered by Drucks' leadership, will translate into a competitive season despite a challenging conference schedule.
With a blend of experienced veterans and promising newcomers, the Matadors aim to improve on their 6‑6‑6 overall record and 1‑5‑3 conference tally from a year ago, targeting a higher finish and perhaps a deeper run in the Big West tournament.
