Duluth Marshall Hires New Head Coaches for Boys and Girls Basketball

Local coaching talent returns to lead Hilltopper programs ahead of winter season

The Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers announced the hiring of Quron Woods as the new head coach of the boys' varsity basketball team and Ella Olson as the head coach of the girls' varsity basketball team.

Local Coaching Legacy Takes Center Stage

Woods, a Duluth native, returns to the region after serving as an assistant men's coach at the College of St. Scholastica and previously at Kentucky State University, bringing a blend of collegiate and local experience.

Olson, who spent the 2010s as an assistant coach at Marshall School and later served as Activities Director at Superior High School, also led the UMD Bulldogs to an NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance as a team captain.

Anthony Wood, Marshall School’s Athletic Director, unveiled the appointments in a press release, highlighting the coaches' deep roots in the community and their proven track records.

Both coaches will join the program in the coming weeks, with official practices scheduled to begin later this fall as the winter sports season approaches.
