Marshall School appoints new basketball coaches as season approaches

Quron Marks takes the boys' helm while Ella Olson steps up for the girls, replacing Cam Berger and building on recent successes.

Duluth Marshall School announced this week that it has appointed new head coaches for both its boys and girls basketball teams, setting the stage for a fresh start as the program heads into the next competitive cycle.

A new era for Marshall basketball

Quron Marks, who most recently served as an assistant coach at the College of St. Scholastica and at Division II Kentucky State from 2023 through 2025, will lead the boys program, taking over from Cam Berger, whose final season ended with a 5‑22 record.

Ella Olson, a former assistant at Marshall and a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth’s women’s basketball program, assumed the girls head coaching role after resigning this summer as activities director at Superior High School.

The girls team captured a Class AA state runner‑up finish last season under former coach CJ Osuchukwu, a milestone that Olson hopes to build upon as she begins her tenure.

In addition to the two basketball appointments, the school has indicated that it is still seeking candidates for coaching positions in baseball and girls lacrosse, underscoring a broader effort to reshape its athletic staff before the new academic year.
