Campbell's women's soccer team opened its season with a decisive 2-0 victory over Longwood, handing the Lancers their first loss of the campaign and marking a strong start under new coach.

The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Avery Garrett cut inside the defense and unleashed a low shot that slipped past the keeper, giving Campbell a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Kanaar doubled the advantage in the 82nd minute, finishing a quick combination with Abby Connolly to make it 2-0 and provide the insurance goal that sealed the result.
Goalkeeper Anais van Doesburg was a wall in the second half, turning away all five shots on target from Longwood, including a flurry of chances that could have narrowed the gap.
Despite outshot the Lancers 13-9, Campbell's defense held firm, with Brynn Clagett making seven saves on her collegiate debut and Longwood finishing with six shots on goal.
The win marks the first meeting between the programs since Campbell entered the Coastal Athletic Association in 2023, lifting the Camels' all‑time series edge to 11‑5‑3.
Longwood will look to rebound when they travel to Old Dominion on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. in Norfolk.
