A Legacy of Excellence
Middle Tennessee State University’s women’s soccer program marked a milestone this week with the unveiling of a special 30‑Year Logo, celebrating three decades of competition, triumphs and tradition.
Since the program’s inception in 1996, the Blue Raiders have traversed three conferences — the Ohio Valley, Sun Belt and Conference USA — and amassed two Sun Belt regular‑season titles in 2004 and 2012, plus a 2010 tournament championship against Denver. The crest now bears the MTSU emblem, the number 30 and three stars that symbolize those championship moments.
Head coach Aston Rhoden, a three‑time Sun Belt Coach of the Year, has been at the helm for much of this journey, earning back‑to‑back Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and 2004. Under his guidance, MTSU players have collected 19 NSCAA/United Soccer Coaches All‑Region selections and 19 conference Player of the Year awards.
Academic achievement runs parallel to athletic success. The program has earned United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Awards for 25 consecutive years, underscoring a commitment to scholarship as well as sport.
The 2026 campaign opens on Thursday at 7 p.m. with a showdown against the Troy Trojans, a match that aims to extend the team’s streak of improving records for a third straight year.
