The Lindenwood women's soccer team began its 2026 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine at Hunter Stadium, extending the Lions' unbeaten streak to four games.
From the opening whistle the Lions dominated possession, outshooting the Knights 4-0 in the first twenty minutes and finishing the half with a total of twenty-one attempts while holding Bellarmine to just four.
Compton's Decisive Strike
Mackenzie Compton broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, slotting home the team's first goal of the season and earning her 13th career assist in the process.
The goal not only put Lindenwood ahead but also tied Compton to fifth place on the program's all‑time assist list in the NCAA era.
Ritter's Shutout Milestone
Goalkeeper Caroline Ritter preserved the lead with a clean sheet, recording her 19th career shutout and edging past the next closest keeper by five victories.
Her 19 stops contributed to a defensive effort that yielded only four shots on goal against the Lions, marking the third‑lowest shot total allowed by Lindenwood since the 2022 season.
The 1-0 result lifted the Lions to a 4-1-0 record, underscoring a start that blends offensive firepower with a stingy backline.
Looking Ahead
Lindenwood will travel to face the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The upcoming road test will be the first away match of the season.
Coach Dave Musso praised the squad's tenacity and structure, noting that the home crowd helped fuel the team's performance and that the same energy will be needed on the road.
