UCLA Bolsters Roster with Four Transfer Additions Ahead of Upcoming Season

New transfers bring experience and depth as Bruins aim for conference contention

UCLA’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of four transfer players who will join the roster for the upcoming season, bringing a mix of experience and skill to the team.

Filip Jovic, Sergej Macura, Jaylen Petty and Azavier Robinson each come from distinct collegiate backgrounds, yet all share the common goal of contributing to UCLA’s pursuit of a stronger Pac‑12 campaign.

Jovic, who spent last season at Auburn, appeared in 37 games and posted 6.3 points per game while grabbing 4.0 rebounds. Petty, a freshman at Texas Tech, contributed 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 33 appearances, and Robinson, who began his collegiate career at Butler, recorded 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 22 games before a left wrist injury cut his season short in early February.

Macura’s stint at Mississippi State saw him average 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 28 games, and both Jovic, Petty and Robinson will enter as sophomores with three years of eligibility remaining, while Macura will be a junior with two years left.

A Strategic Boost for the Bruins

The transfers are complemented by incoming freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon, giving the Bruins depth at multiple positions as they look to contend in the Pac‑12.

Head coach Mick Cronin highlighted the versatility each newcomer adds, noting that the blend of size, shooting and playmaking should expand the team’s tactical options.

With the new pieces now on campus, UCLA aims to translate its recruiting momentum into on‑court success, targeting a stronger conference finish and a deeper run in the NCAA tournament.
