The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has announced its Class 1A all‑state teams, recognizing a trio of local standouts from Lynnville‑Sully and Baxter High School.
Standout Performances
JD Richards earned the top spot on the first team, anchoring the infield at second base after a season that saw him bat .541 and reach base at a .655 clip, the ninth‑best average in the division.
His 56 total bases topped the Hawks, while his 53 runs scored placed him among the state’s most prolific scorers.
Cael Wishman was selected to the second team as a utility player, having posted a .425 batting average, a .546 on‑base percentage and stole 40 bases, the third‑most in the class.
Wishman also proved his mettle behind the plate, posting a .984 fielding percentage and gunning down four would‑be basestealers.
Pitcher Colton Moffit received third‑team honors, leading the state with 11 victories and a 0.66 earned‑run average over 74 2/3 innings.
A Milestone for Baxter
The recognitions mark the first time in Baxter history that two players have been named all‑state in the same season, underscoring the program’s rising competitiveness.
Both Wishman and Moffit have committed to collegiate programs — Wishman to Upper Iowa University and Moffit to Northwestern College — while Richards will continue his career at Simpson College.
