A Journey Years in the Making
Thirteen young athletes from Forsyth County, North Carolina, have been sharing a baseball diamond since they were six, and their long‑standing camaraderie culminated in a dramatic run at the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament in New York.
During Week 8 of the event, the Midway Scout squad faced a field of 104 teams and emerged with a 10‑1 record, punching their ticket to the championship game. Their second‑place finish reflects a season defined by consistency and resilience.
Celebration on the Water
The festivities blended tradition and family pride: a town parade, fireworks lighting the night sky, and a poolside ceremony where coaches presented handmade paper‑plate awards to each player. Head coach Vaughn Lemoine highlighted the team’s chemistry, while Coach Hugh Quattlebaum praised their ability to overcome collective challenges.
As the evening wound down, the players gathered for a chant of “Family on me! Family on three!” before diving into the pool, a moment that encapsulated the bond that has guided them through years of growth.
