A Fresh Start for the Warriors
The New Covenant Academy Warriors are gearing up for the 2026 fall soccer season with a sense of optimism that reflects both continuity and change. Under the guidance of head coach Eric Crain, the team carries eight returning starters, a foundation that promises stability as they look to rebuild an offense that faltered in the previous campaign.
Last year’s roster losses due to graduation have opened space for a new wave of talent, but the Warriors are not starting from scratch. Senior standouts such as Austin Berry, Oliver Ward, Jett Belk, Eli Carrigan, Ethan Bennett, Sam Carmack, Reese Smith and Jacob Buetow are all set to return, bringing a mix of experience and proven skill sets. Ward, in particular, is expected to anchor the midfield with his ball‑controlling ability and physical presence, while Belk’s pace and creativity should add depth to the attacking third.
The incoming group includes senior goalkeeper Ben Meeks, who previously showcased his athleticism on the basketball court, and sophomore midfielder Henry Wynn, a baseball alumnus who brings a fresh perspective to the midfield. Freshman Jude Belk is slated to integrate smoothly into the possession‑based style that Crain has cultivated, while Eli Osborne, a longtime club player since elementary school, is viewed as an additional offensive threat. Meanwhile, sophomore Gabe Clark, who has managed the girls’ soccer program, will lend his organizational insight to the boys’ squad.
The preseason schedule kicks off with a match on August 21 against Greenwood and Rogersville, providing an early test for the revamped lineup. The season officially begins a week later, on August 29, when the Warriors travel to West Plains for their first competitive fixture.
