Auburn University’s basketball program has added a seasoned transfer guard, Kolby King, who will be eligible to compete in the 2026‑27 campaign under the NCAA’s new age‑based eligibility framework.
King arrives after stints at Utah State, St. John’s, Tulane and Butler, where he honed a reputation as a reliable three‑point shooter and versatile backcourt option.
What King Brings to Auburn
During the most recent season he posted averages of 7.5 points, a 48 % field‑goal percentage and a 39 % clip from beyond the arc, highlighted by a 20‑point outing against Wyoming in which he hit six of nine shots, four of them from three‑point range.
His breakout year came in 2023‑24 at Tulane, when he tallied 10.4 points per game while shooting 47 % from the floor, underscoring his ability to score efficiently in a variety of roles.
Coach Steven Pearl is expected to weave King into a backcourt that already features guards Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, giving the Tigers additional depth and flexibility off the bench.
Pearl has emphasized that King will primarily serve as a rotation piece, providing a spark when starters need rest and helping to maintain offensive rhythm throughout the schedule.
