A Deepening Room
The 2026 wide receiver corps at Coastal Carolina University is shaping up to be one of the most contested groups on the roster. Head coach Ryan Beard and offensive coordinator Nick Petrino have assembled a mix of proven production and fresh talent, setting the stage for an intense battle for playing time.
Robby Washington returns after a breakout 2025 campaign in which he recorded 29 receptions for 278 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing seven rushing attempts and a scoring pass. His versatility gives the staff a reliable option both on the outside and in the backfield.
Karmello English, who transferred from West Georgia, appeared in every game last season and posted 20 catches for 185 yards with three scores. His consistent presence and ability to stretch the field add a new dimension to the offense.
The transfer portal has brought several high‑profile receivers to Conway. Goldie Lawrence arrives from Florida A&M after a 447‑yard, two‑touchdown season, while Tristian Gardner, a Missouri State alum, reunites with Beard and Petrino after a freshman year that saw him set a school record with six touchdown receptions. Clayton Coppock, a recent Conference USA All‑Freshman Team selection from Kennesaw State, brings 311 yards and six scores, and Krosse Johnson, an Arkansas transfer, adds SEC‑level experience after nine games with the Razorbacks.
Depth options include Colton Hinton, Trishstin Glass, Dwayne White and Nathan Schuessler, all of whom have seen action in multiple games and can provide insurance at the position. Freshmen KD Hainsworth, Jayden Johnson and Joshua Parker are also expected to contribute, adding speed and playmaking ability to the mix.
The coaching staff views the competition as a catalyst for elevating the entire unit, hoping that the blend of size, speed and experience will translate into more explosive plays and a stronger passing attack throughout the schedule.
