San Francisco to Host 2028 MLB All-Star Game at Oracle Park
Major League Baseball announced that the 2028 All-Star Game will be played at Oracle Park, the Giants’ waterfront ballpark, bringing the Midsummer Classic back to the city for the first time since 2007.
San Francisco’s baseball story is steeped in tradition. The 2007 edition featured Ichiro Suzuki’s celebrated inside-the-park home run, a moment that still resonates with fans and marked the last time the city hosted the event before the upcoming 2028 celebration.
The Giants will host the All-Star Game for the fourth time, having previously done so in 1961 and 1984 at Candlestick Park. Oracle Park joins an exclusive list of eight active ballparks that have staged the game on multiple occasions, underscoring the franchise’s enduring influence on the sport.
All-Star Week will extend beyond the classic, offering a week‑long festival of fan experiences, alumni gatherings and community outreach. The timing follows a string of high‑profile sporting spectacles in the Bay Area, including the 2024 Super Bowl and the recent FIFA World Cup, further cementing San Francisco’s reputation as a global sports destination.
Larry Baer, president and CEO of the San Francisco Giants, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase the city’s baseball culture and community on such a prominent stage.
Rob Manfred, commissioner of Major League Baseball, highlighted the event’s role in connecting the sport’s rich history with its future, noting that the Bay Area’s blend of innovation, culture and natural beauty will attract visitors from around the world.
