Princeton High School’s New Jake Sweeney Automotive Stadium Set to Open for Homecoming

After construction delays, the renovated stadium will host its first game on Oct. 2, with a community ribbon‑cutting ceremony scheduled for Sept. 26.

Princeton High School is poised to unveil its newly renovated Jake Sweeney Automotive Stadium, a state‑of‑the‑art facility that will officially open on October 2. The venue, situated at Pat Mancuso Field, marks a major upgrade for the school’s athletic programs and promises a first‑class experience for players and fans alike.

Because construction timelines slipped, the September home games will be played at Roettger Stadium in Lockland. The move also means that Lockland High School, which does not field a football team this season due to low participation, will host the games while the new stadium prepares for its debut.

The September schedule includes matchups against Colerain on September 4, Sycamore on September 11 and Lakota West on September 18, each set to take place at the temporary site. These games will serve as a preview of the upcoming homecoming festivities and keep the team’s momentum going.

Homecoming Celebration

A community open house and ribbon‑cutting ceremony is slated for September 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring performances by the Princeton Pride of Princeton Marching Band, food concessions and a variety of activities that will blend into the broader Homecoming festivities.

The season’s first home‑field appearance will actually occur earlier, on August 20, when the team travels to Paycor Stadium to face Moeller. As of Friday morning, 2,060 tickets have already been sold for that game, underscoring strong community interest.

The stadium’s completion not only restores a premier home‑field advantage for Princeton but also signals a commitment to providing a first‑class facility for future events and competitions, reinforcing the school’s long‑term athletic ambitions.
