Rutgers University and Villanova University will meet in an exhibition basketball game on Sunday, October 11, at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey. The matchup serves as a warm‑up for both programs before the official season begins.
While the game will not affect either team’s regular‑season records, it revives a series that has seen Villanova hold a 10‑4 edge over Rutgers in Big East Conference play. The last meeting in the 2012‑13 season ended with a 71‑63 defeat for the Scarlet Knights.
Both squads are coming off markedly different campaigns. Villanova finished the previous year at 24‑9 overall and 15‑5 in conference, advancing to the first round of the Big East Tournament before a narrow loss to Georgetown and an NCAA Tournament exit against Utah State.
This exhibition will spotlight several storylines, not least the return of Tyler Perkins, who led the Wildcats with 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season and shoots 44 percent from the field.
