Missouri’s football camp has reached the two‑thirds mark, with ten practices already completed and five still to go before the team turns its focus to the September 3 season opener.
The media‑observed session on Friday was marked by the absence of several key starters, including left tackle Cayden Green, defensive tackle Donta Simpson Jr., and tight end Gavin Hoffman, each of whom missed the second consecutive practice.
In Green’s place, Jack Lange took the left‑tackle reps and showed promise during one‑on‑one drills, giving the coaching staff a glimpse of possible solutions as the depth chart continues to shift.
Backup linemen Whit Hafer and Colin Sorensen were slotted into reserve center duties, while receivers and other position groups adjusted their responsibilities to fill the gaps left by the missing starters.
Placekicker Blake Craig delivered a flawless kicking session, converting attempts from 20, 27, 38 and 41 yards without a miss, reinforcing confidence in the special‑teams unit.
At other positions, Malae Fonoti is battling Xai’Shaun Edwards for the RB2/RB3 roles, while true freshman Jaxson Gates earned second‑team reps at cornerback and rookie Jayden McGregory worked consistently with the second‑team safety unit.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will hold a closed practice on Saturday before head coach Eli Drinkwitz addresses the media, and the next opportunity to see Green back on the field is slated for Monday’s session as the team finalizes preparations for the upcoming opener.
