The Florida Gators baseball team posted an 8-3 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores in the SEC tournament, moving into the quarterfinals.
Hayden Yost’s fourth home run in the past two games ignited a 3-0 lead early, showcasing the Gators’ potent bat.
Technology and Challenges Shape the Game
Aidan King, the SEC Pitcher of the Year, was removed after surrendering three earned runs, highlighting the pressure on Florida’s pitching staff.
Karson Bowen proved dominant behind the plate, going 3-for-3 on automated ball-strike challenges, while Korbin Reynolds’ successful appeal in the sixth inning helped maintain Florida’s momentum.
Cade Kurland’s timely single in the seventh inning stretched the lead, and Brendan Lawson’s eighth-inning home run followed a Reynolds challenge that effectively ended Vanderbilt’s chances.
The lineup also included Jackson Barberi, Caden McDonald, and Eddie Newsom, who contributed to the team’s depth.
With a 14-5 record on the road and three defeats to Alabama earlier this season, the Gators now turn their focus to a quarterfinal matchup against Alabama, aiming to continue their ascent.
