The Compton Tarbabes are preparing for the 2026‑27 season with a sense of renewal after a tough 2025 campaign. Having moved from the Moore League to the newly formed Hub City League, the team enters a competitive environment that promises tougher matchups but also greater exposure.
Central to their plans are junior quarterback Donnie Johnson III, who transferred from Dominguez and is cleared for week one, and sophomore running back Edward Rivera, the reigning leading rusher in the LA City Section. Both players bring proven experience, with Johnson having thrown for over 1,000 yards in a single season.
On defense, senior linebacker Jay’Rome Norwood will anchor the middle, supported by Takai McKnight, while the offensive and defensive lines are expected to benefit from the leadership of experienced seniors such as Alex Martinez, who is already drawing praise for his poise in the trenches.
