A Friendly Rivalry on Ice
The Battle of the Badges hockey game is set to light up the Sanford Center in Bemidji on Saturday, October 10, at 4 p.m., offering free admission to the public and inviting families and fans to cheer on their local heroes.
Local firefighters and law‑enforcement officers will lace up their skates to compete on the ice, turning a friendly rivalry into a fundraiser for a good cause and showcasing the camaraderie that defines the region’s first‑responder community.
The event was proposed by local first responders and is designed to raise awareness and generate support for the United Way of Bemidji Area, aligning sports excitement with charitable outreach and reinforcing the nonprofit’s mission to strengthen the community.
After the game, organizers will host a watch party in Grand Forks for the BSU Men’s Hockey team’s showdown against North Dakota, extending the community spirit beyond the rink and giving fans a chance to celebrate together.
