Owen Price, a junior at Grand Island Central Catholic, has become the latest high school football prospect to attract a wave of Division I interest after a standout showing at a University of Iowa camp.
Strategic Shift to Tight End
Coaches from South Dakota State and Miami of Ohio extended scholarship offers on May 31, and the list quickly expanded to include Nebraska, Kansas State, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Oregon and Penn State.
The Grand Island Central Catholic program announced a positional shift, moving Price from tackle to tight end to leverage his athleticism and versatility on the field.
Head coach Jeff Ashby, who has guided Price throughout the recruitment journey, highlighted the player's humility and work ethic, noting that the youngster still possesses considerable room to develop.
Ashby emphasized that Price remains comfortable with the timeline, allowing him to add weight and refine his skills before stepping onto a college campus.
The team is slated to open its season on August 28 against Hershey, a matchup that will serve as the first test of the new tight end role.
