Mikaela Boyd Joins Canisius Women's Basketball Staff
Canisius College announced the hiring of Mikaela Boyd as an assistant coach for its women's basketball program, a move that brings a distinguished playing pedigree and leadership experience to the roster.
Boyd spent four seasons at the University of Toledo, where she captained the team and earned two All‑Mid‑American Conference honors, culminating in the 2017 MAC Tournament MVP award.
During her collegiate career she appeared in 129 games, amassing 1,197 points and 773 rebounds, while also recording 15 games with seven or more assists.
A Dean’s List student and three‑time MAC All‑Academic selection, Boyd was recognized as the 2016‑17 MAC Distinguished Scholar‑Athlete, underscoring her commitment to both athletics and academics.
Before entering coaching, Boyd worked as an insurance underwriter in Plano, Texas, a corporate role she left to pursue her passion for developing young athletes.
Head coach Tiffany Swoffard praised Boyd, describing her as a proven winner and an exemplary role model for student‑athletes.
The addition of Boyd is expected to bolster the Golden Griffins' recruiting efforts and on‑court development as the program looks to build on recent successes.
