The Rohnert Park youth baseball squad, composed of players twelve and under, traveled to Branson, Missouri, to compete in the Cal Ripken World Series consolation bracket, a tournament that gathered some of the most talented junior teams from across the globe.
In the championship matchup, Southeast Denver surged ahead with a two‑RBI double from Lance Relford Jr., plating both runs that would prove decisive, while Rohnert Park’s Jalen Haile delivered five solid innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four, and Dylan Jones closed the game with a hitless ninth inning that featured a strikeout.
The turning point for the Sonoma County side came earlier in the competition when Vincent Breining launched a solo home run that capped a 5‑4 walk‑off victory over Colombia, a moment that lifted team morale and underscored the unpredictable excitement of the event.
Throughout the series, Rohnert Park’s pitching emerged as its most reliable weapon, a strength that enabled the team to build leads despite a tepid offense that managed only a single hit per game from players such as Immanuel Melendez, Justin Collins and the rest of the roster.
