The Christian County Lady Tigers recorded their first-ever girls’ soccer victory on Tuesday, edging Logan County 2-1 in a match that was delayed by extreme heat. The game, originally slated for 11:30 a.m., was pushed back to 9 a.m. to avoid the midday sun, adding a sense of urgency to the contest.
Logan County struck first when Caroline Boortz found the net in the fifth minute, but the Lady Tigers answered quickly. Carliah Hobson equalized in the 33rd minute with a precise strike, and she completed the comeback in the 47th minute, securing a 2-1 win that sparked celebration among the players and fans.
Goalkeeper Kaylynn Schwartz was a wall between the posts, making 12 saves that kept the lead intact despite relentless pressure from Logan County. Her performance underscored the team’s resilience and highlighted the importance of defensive stability in a close game.
The junior varsity squad added to the day’s triumph by defeating Logan County 3-0. Emma Kate Howell contributed two goals and an assist, while Ava Myrick scored and McKinlie Lewis provided a helper. Kaydon Coats, alongside Griffin Daniel and Natalia Filideli, helped preserve the clean sheet, shutting out the opposition.
Looking ahead, the Lady Tigers (1-1) will host Hopkins County Central on Monday at 6 p.m., a matchup that promises another test of their growing chemistry and determination.
