A New Chapter for Northwood Soccer
The Northwood boys soccer program is entering its second season under head coach John Orozco, a tenure marked by a deliberate focus on player development and long‑term growth.
Eight seniors have moved on, including all‑time leading goal scorer Danny Genzman, leaving a void that the coaching staff is addressing by integrating a mix of returning veterans and promising newcomers.
Among the returning leaders, midfielder Caiden Genson stands out with a career tally of 31 goals and 50 assists, and he will captain the side alongside striker Sebastian Gomez, a junior whose athleticism has drawn early praise.
Defensively, Mason Hurley is regarded as the team’s best defender, while Brayden LaGrange brings the school’s highest save percentage in net, adding stability to the backline.
Freshmen Alejandro Cardenas, Jackson Pardee and Kase Ritchie have joined the squad, alongside first‑year player David Garcia, who will train with the senior class that includes Caiden Genson. The coaching staff notes that the goalkeeping position remains open, with competition driving performance.
Coach Orozco emphasizes that the season’s objective extends beyond wins, aiming to foster growth that will benefit the athletes both on and off the field.
