The Woodmore girls soccer program made history last season, advancing to the state semifinals for the first time in school history.
A 20‑2‑1 record, a perfect 11‑0 run in the league and a SBC championship highlighted the campaign, with forward Kelsey Kaylor setting new program scoring marks.
A New Era of Optimism
This year the roster will look different, having lost seven seniors including Kelsey Kaylor and midfielder Camille Strong, but seven starters return, led by top scorers Willow Lewis and Rylie Hesselbart.
Coach Jeff Helmke says the team’s work ethic and balanced talent give them a solid foundation despite the departures.
The junior class, featuring players such as Karli Heins and Valerie Kerecz, is expected to step into larger roles, while newcomers like Izzy Helmke add depth.
Although the team will compete independently of the SBC this season, the drive to return to the state semifinals remains strong.
