Pleasant Hope Football Aims to Rise After Winless Campaign

Returning starters and a host of key players look to reshape the offense and defense for a competitive season

The Pleasant Hope football program endured a challenging 0‑10 season a year ago, but the team enters the new campaign with a wealth of returning talent. Head coach Jim Apple notes that the squad will bring back six offensive starters and eight defensive starters, giving the players a foundation of varsity experience that many have not previously enjoyed.

A Roster Rebuilt Around Experience

Competition is already shaping the backfield, as junior Daylin Campbell and senior Peyton Guy battle for the starting quarterback role. Their performances will set the tone for an offense that also features a deep group of playmakers at wide receiver and tight end.

At wide receiver, the team counts GT Bass, Zak Brixey, Kylen Northrup and Quincy Willoughby among its primary targets, while the tight end corps includes Dalton Dixon, Aiden Johnson, Randall Kendrick and Donnie Moody. Running backs Keaton Carter, Jax Maggard and Bryce Hubbard are expected to carry the rushing attack.

The offensive line will be anchored by Austin Raps, Boone Stewart, Sterling Gallivan, Colton Carrasco and Rourke Price, forming a unit that coach Apple believes can open lanes for the backs. Defensively, the line features Carter, Stewart, Price, Raps and Taveon Cote, providing depth on the front.

Linebackers Bryce Huber and Randall Kendrick will be key in the second level, while the secondary will rely on Bass, Willoughby, Zak Brixey and Christian Jett to defend the passing game. Apple has highlighted several players — including Kendrick, Bass, Willoughby and Carter — as potential breakout performers.

The schedule includes a jamboree against Springfield Catholic on August 21 and a season‑opening road game at KIPP KC Legacy on August 29. The program’s goals are to improve the running game on both sides of the ball, give underclassmen valuable varsity reps, and build a foundation for future success.
