Indiana University's women's soccer team improved to 2‑0 on the season with a 3‑1 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday, extending their unbeaten home stretch.
The Hoosiers opened the scoring early when forward Maggie Ledwith rose to meet a cross and headed the ball into the net in the sixth minute, a strike that set the tone for the match.
Midfielder Kennedy Neighbors, who had been searching for her first goal of the campaign, found the back of the net later in the same minute, giving Indiana a quick 2‑0 lead.
Aleyna Quinn added her own header in the second half, while Ledwith struck again in the 73rd minute to cement a comfortable margin.
Limited Threat from the Opponents
Youngstown State managed only a single shot that produced a goal in the 58th minute by Ghita Haouzi, and they were denied any corner kicks throughout the game.
Indiana controlled the contest with ten shots, five of them from Ledwith, and maintained pressure that left the opposition without a clear chance to equalize.
The team will next host Bellarmine on Friday, August 21 at Bill Armstrong Stadium, where senior day celebrations are scheduled to begin before kickoff at 8 p.m.
