Harrisburg Woodies clinched their second straight Class A state amateur baseball championship, edging Renner 3‑1 at Cadwell Park. The triumph marks the first repeat title since the Sioux Falls Brewers captured back‑to‑back crowns in 2019 and 2020, underscoring the Woodies’ rise as a dominant force in the tournament.
A Season of Dominance
The Woodies closed the season with a 27‑4 record, a performance that included an 8‑2 win over Tea and a 6‑1 loss to Renner earlier in the tournament. Their consistency was on full display as they navigated a tightly contested series against the same rival for three consecutive years.
Pitcher Tanner Brown was the workhorse on the mound, logging all nine innings while allowing just one run and striking out 15 batters. His effort set the tone for a staff that kept Renner’s offense in check throughout the championship game.
Outfielder Jack Sutton added a potent bat, collecting four hits, driving in two runs and scoring once. His contributions helped the Woodies build an early lead that they never relinquished.
MVP Honors and Team Accolades
Dalton Lehnen was named the tournament’s Keith Cutler Most Valuable Player, recognizing his dual impact at the plate and on the mound. Meanwhile, the Yankton Lakers received the Richard Rockafellow Sportsmanship Award, and Carson Jager earned the Tony Adams Hustle Award for his relentless effort.
