A small-town Georgia football program is set to make a splash across the Atlantic as the Marietta High School squad prepares for its season‑opening clash in London.
A Transatlantic Debut
The team will face NFL Academy on August 20 at a London venue, with the game officially sanctioned by the Georgia High School Association and streamed live on the NFL UK & Ireland YouTube channel at 1 p.m. EST.
After the match, the players will stay in Loughborough, England, where they will take part in a service project organized by Samaritan’s Purse UK, turning their visit into a chance to give back to the local community.
Coach Cameron Duke highlighted the dual purpose of the trip, saying the players are eager to represent the United States on the field while also embodying the spirit of service off it. Quarterback Jayden Whiteside added that the experience is about more than a win; it’s about showcasing American football values to an international audience.
Building on a Strong Foundation
The Warriors finished the previous season with a 5‑1 record, a performance that has raised expectations and confidence as they head into the new campaign. The London fixture is seen as a pivotal test of their readiness for a demanding schedule.
Beyond the scoreboard, the tour underscores a growing trend of U.S. high‑school teams seeking global exposure and community engagement, a move that could reshape how high‑school sports are experienced worldwide.
